PIA Plans Network Expansion to Europe and the UK

The Pakistan national airline has set sights on improving service targets by adding aircraft to its fleet.

LAHORE: Thanks to The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA)’s recent lift of imposed bans on international markets, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is hopeful of venturing into the European and UK markets.

A spokesperson from PIA announced that restoring repaired aircraft back to flight will be one such endeavor included in the efforts to expand services globally starting from Thursday last week.

Management looks to increase the Boeing 777s in the company’s fleet to eight and Airbus A320 aircraft to twelve, as well as ATR planes also set to increase to two. These developments appear against the backdrop of PIA’s plans for ambitious expansion by the year 2025, as a strategy that would position PIA competitively in the global space.

This further allows the airline to venture into more routes with greater volumes of travelers, addressing the travel needs of a larger Pakistani population is of great focus for PIA, ensuring significant progress in efforts to redefine services.

According to the spokesperson, the measures taken in this direction have paid off and the airline has been able to exceed 90% of their planned schedule, which is the highest in the country of Pakistan.
