May 22, 2020 one of the darkest day in the country’s national carier. PIA (Pakistan International Airlines) the national carrier of Pakistan, lost a plane and 100 lives with it. The airline had just started its commercial flights after the lift of COVID-19 restrictions, that the airline exeperienced a horrific plane crash, killing 97 people on plan and few at the crash scene.
Reason behind the crash
At the moment there are no definite answer for the crash but according to the investigation, the landing gear stopped working. Due to which the pilot attempted to do a belly landing. The pilot tried to land and noticed that the landing gear is not working, he made the first attempt touching the ground three times.
Where the plane lost 2 engines but still managed to make a second attempt. This is where PK 8303 fell short of the runway into a near colony Model Town Karachi. The jet dropped 7000 feet to 2000 feet altitude which is about 2134 km in just 1 minute and 6 seconds.
Cockpit
The cockpit of Airbus A-320 has been discovered and would be sent to France for further analysis. The flight data recorder was earlier found and had been sent to the concerned authoristies.
Survivors
From 99 people only two people managed to survive. Speaking to one of the survivors , he mentioned that when the plane crashed he could only hear screams of children and womens there was smoke every where. He saw some light and approched towards it and jumped 10 feets down.
The incident happened in the last days of Holy month of Ramadan, when people were flying back to their families to celebrate Eid. This would be a very sad Eid for the whole nation and especially for the families who lost their loved ones.
